P.S. When I used to use paypal, I sold alot of italian charms (crazy fad jewelry) and had money passing through my account regularly in higher than average volume.... They (paypal) limited my account 3 (three) times in 6 months with a 2 to 3 week waiting period (each time) for me to access my money... effectivly shutting me down whilst I fax in AGAIN and AGAIN and.... AGAIN needed documentation!!! Thats when I said ENOUGH! I guess paypal didnt know it was me??? I hate repeating myself.

I got ripped by PayPal support too. Luckily mine was over a mere $65 (after eBay's recommended legal mediator fee). PayPal.com, eBay.com, half.com, & SecureTrade (legal mediator) are now blocked on the many networks I now control. They are practically financial terrorists. When you deal with other people's money, there is no three-strike rule. One hit and it's TKO !!

PaypalSucks, Hello. I have never seen any negative posts anywhere on PayPal or StormPay. Accourding toy they both SUCK. But if you give up PayPal and StormPay you give up a lot of internet. Those are 2 best known payments proccessors. Everyone knows them and almost no one kniow your alternative. I had it before. I never had so much troubles with it. Ebay won't take it. HYIPs won't take it. Almost everyone I tryed it with won't take it. But 100% of them all take PAYPAL/STORMPAY. I need Ebay to earn my living. I earn My living on Ebay and on HYIPs. I can use e-gold on HYIPs, but PayPal and StormPay are very easy to withdraw from. I never ghad any problems with it. Nver. StormPay customar service and ticket support are exelent. They respond very fast and always good advice My friend uses SDtormPy for her online bussiness. She has $7-8k on it at any given time and never had a single cent stolen. I never had anything stolen as well. PayPal has over 80 million accounts world wide. With so many to manadge you can exopect some errors and problems sometimes. Or an odd hacker attack. Their transaction is secure and instant. Never had any delays. My main point is that here are a lot if place you can joine ONLY with PatyPal or StormPay and a lot of services you can buy -again-ONLY with PayPal or SyormPay. I been earning my living for 3 years using them. I cannot go out of bussiness and go and beg io the street instead. You are telling the impossible. PaypalSucks, The Pay Pal Nazis need to be stopped, when will the government actually do something against Pay Pal.
there is Banking laws, there is business laws, but with pay pal, it seems like none of this applies, and everytime those Jerks are sued, they act like they are the victims.
I hate pay pal with a passion, those jerks screwed me, and I am still waiting for the supposed money to come in from the class action lawsuit.

You are absolutely correct. The ebay side is easy to see and promote since they are one of the top 10 sites in the world on the net, they can get all the attention they want by issuing a press release or by buying millions of dollars in advertisting. The other side of the coin is a bit harder to find... hence the reason for the toon above and for sites like this.

Of course another spin one could put on this is that Ebay is capitalizing on it's success as well as the success of others. Mergers have happened for decades. They're not going to stop.
I have enjoyed my time on Ebay, for the most part. I was very disappointed when they bought half.com and panicked when they planned to shut it down. Guess what? Half.com is essentially unchanged, except now you can leave feedback under peoples ebay profiles.
I would love to know the specifics of how people lost money.
I would also love to know how many people on here are hating just to hate and not hating because they actually had a legitimate issue.
There are two sides to every story, and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.

i think paypal does suck, and eBay\'s monopoly hold, buying up everything isnt really business sense, but only strengthens their operations, which from their perspective is good for their business but can sometimes mean complete and utter confusion as they may merge certain parts of the business together...
what you do need to clafify, for no particular reason, is that eBay is buying VeriSign\'s payment unit, and that only, not the whole company and its subsidary\'s, thats very cheap i was thinking, and im sure they didnt get the whole company for that amount.
i\'d never ever do business with verisign ... they overcharge for everything, i cant understand why paypal couldnt develop their own gateway, surely with the huge customer database and capital they could have done it for themselfs for a lot cheaper.
i\'ve lost money with paypal, quite a bit around $250 and they did jack shit to get my money back, and so i\'ll think very hard before i use them to deposit money specifically.
if any of you have hate verisign, its good because their only as good as their crazy frog because (jamster is one of their companies.)

Some selected (and telling) quotes from a e-commercetimes.com article:
Quote:
Looking to beef up its PayPal online payment service and enhance its reputation
That right there tells us the people here are not the only ones concerned with paypal/ebay. The problem is epidemic and everyone knows it. Only took ebay 4 years and $370million to take the first step at addressing some of the problems...
Quote:
In addition to the acquisition, eBay said the deal calls for VeriSign to provide eBay security support services and technology advice, including the purchase of 2 million security tokens. Tokens are physical devices, often key-chain sized USB plug-ins, that are used to create so-called two-factor security, which requires users to provide both a security password and the physical token.
This is a good first step. I'm not sure of the effectiveness of their technology (long term) but it should help merchants against fraudulent card holder chargebacks... It'll be a lot harder to dispute a charge if a physical key is required to make the charge.
Quote:
Analysts said the acquisition would help eBay build a more secure PayPal. While that may help soothe eBay buyers and sellers increasingly concerned about identity theft and other online security issues, it may also finally help propel PayPal into more of an all-purpose online payment solution that reaches well beyond the massive eBay community.
Yea on the first two points, boo on the last..
Quote:
EBay may also be eager to beef up its payment technology, and expand its merchant and consumer customer base, before Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) planned Google Wallet is released. Google executives have said the wallet service will not be a direct competitor to PayPal, but many analysts say it makes sense for Google to aim for the same payment middle-man spot where eBay has long held high ground.
I know a lot of people like Google, but there has been some cercerns about Google and the power they wield as well. Recall the privacy issues over gmail. Not "poo-pooing" Google, but until it's out and working, can't put much faith in it.
Quote: But some security experts have already predicted that hackers and others bent on stealing personal information will stay a step ahead of the changing technology.
Maybe. Only time will tell. But if the system is like what I think it is.... it should shut down 90% of the scumbags.
Quote:
A report released this summer by a UK researcher said the fact that ATM cards -- a form of two-factor security with both a PIN and the card needed to conduct a transaction -- are often stolen and compromised is proof that criminals will find a way to defeat even the most sophisticated security technology.
True, but in those cases, the ATM card is attacked by actually getting one's hands on the ATM card itself (skimmers, dumpster divers, etc) or by attacking databases which hold the info. The token system (if it's what I'm thinking) will be much harder to access since it's only used on the person's computer. A thief would have to break into the house and physically take it to do anything. Of course I could be wrong, since i dn't know the details of the technology, but I'll just say in theory, this could be a great idea.
Quote:
Many see little synergeies in that deal, while the effort to beef up PayPal is seen as a winner, not only because PayPal is widely seen as being in the best position to become the Web standard for micro-payments or credit-card alternative, but also because the deal helps service eBay's core auction and fixed-price commerce platform.
cringe....
