Back when PayPal started some years before 2000, they catered only to online gamers (kids) that did not have access to credit cards or other means of direct payment, at least that was my impression then and it seemed to me in those days it was run by a bunch of happy amateur kids in a basement somewhere, and that is the same impression I get today, only they have now expanded to be just another weak link in the chain of possible attacks when you use your credit cards for payment. Why add another link that can be attacked?
and PayPal is supposed to give an option if you don't want to sign up when making a payment, you are supposed to have an option to pay without signing up, but that is not the case.

This is just disgusting. I am just a light seller on fleabay and have experienced fraudulent acivity on the part of fleabay, but did not realize paypal was this bad. I knew if they are owned by zzzzzbay then they can't be on the up and up, but had no idea how bad. Because of my distrust of ebay, I do a lot of holiday shopping online, but this year I didn't buy one thing on ebay and I would not use paypal for payment on any of my online transactions. This is before I read all of this. For some reason, I didn't feel comfortable paying with paypal this year. It must be good intuition, I would start to pay with paypal but because ebay is so tacky and fraudulent, I just didn't feel like using paypal. After reading all of this, in Jan 09, I am no longer selling anything on fleabay (already made that decision) but I am also deleting my paypal account. I will also speak to my bank regarding paypal's activities to ensure they will never access any of my accounts in the future. Thanks for the thousands of people out there that make people like me aware of this. I want to join in a full fledged attack against both those companies at this point....legally of course.

Ebay is obviously getting desperate for profit with tying the use of its auctions to paypal. According to the policy changes that are underway (on ebay), money orders, cashiers checks, and personal checks are now considered evil. They say its to combat 'fraud' and enhance the experience.
A thinly veiled attempt to double their sale-through margins.
Pinks, if you are reading this, I heartily recommend you short your company's stock. This is the last straw for sellers. For those of you who used to love ebay for its variety of things, that era has now officially ended.
Too many changes, too complex, too much greed. Sound familiar??
Seller ratings have to be near 'perfect' for sellers to remain sellers, apparently. Ebays seller ratings of "Accurate" "Satisfied" "Quickly Shipped" and "Reasonable S+H+I" are NO LONGER GOOD ENOUGH.
This parnership between ebay and paypal is totally broken.
As of the end of the month, my paypal account will be CLOSED PERMANENTLY.

Perhaps if More Sellers Did get involved and Swamped this Site with their Stories, had their own personal nightmare with these companies put into print throughout the country in local newspapers: We would have ONE VOICE, LOUD ENOUGH TO MAKE THE WORLD, TAKE NOTICE.
The misery these two companies are bringing upon the Sellers of eBay is Pandemic! It's not merely a handful of disgruntled eBay Sellers, as eBay would like everyone to believe.

Who is this moron! PayPal gets sued every year after year. They steal 50 million dollars and then settle out of court for 1/5 th of that amount. They steal money and hold it to collect the interest of what they stole off people.
If you want a real payment service thats fair to both buyers and sellers GOOGLE CHECKOUT.
GOOGLE CHECKOUT doesn't have their asses shoved up the buyer's ass for fear of chargebacks.
PayPal and eBay now that if they allowed Google Checkout to be offered on eBay, PayPal would be put out of business 123! THey know this and thats why they come up with some lame ass excuse that Google isnt safe, YEAH IT ISNT SAFE - IT ISNT SAFE FOR EBAY AND PAYPAL BECAUSE THEY'D BE OUT OF BUSINESS BECAUSE OF GOOGLE!
We see PayPal being sued year after year after year ever since eBay bought PayPal. WE've never heard once nor seen an Anti Google Checkout site. WE'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF ANTIPAYPAL SITES AND ANTI EBAY SITES. NOT GOOGLE.

of course PayPal does not KEEP the funds in the frozen account. Most frozen accounts actually OWE PayPal due to their negative balance. It's only when an account goes inactive (say you have not logged in for more than a year) does PayPal SUBMIT to the Federal government whatever balance was left there, which the user can always get to with their Federal government.

BEWARE Paypal nearly destroy my business, I will never use again!!!
I have website payments pro account to process payments for my business with then for the last 5 months the put 4 limitations on my account which we are unable to do northing. If you depend on Paypal to receive payments for your business this will put you in bad situation trust me very bad situation. the phone customer services is worst ever we deal with they will not resolve the issues on your account, will ask you to send email which take long to get reply back. Please don’t do it the same mistake we did it, find another reliable company. They don’t want small business to grow alone special because they belongs to eBay which they want every business to sale thought eBay ending up paying fees to eBay and Paypal
I hope this will open eyes for the people who are interest to use Paypal. I will not recommend this to nobody.

So... If Paypal "Freezes" an account, do they eventually get to keep the money in that "Frozen" account for themselves?
If this is the case, it does not seem like they have any incentive to NOT "Freeze" accounts, as "Frozen" accounts only add to their profits. I absolutely cannot understand why people continue to use Paypal. I feel like I should wash my hands just from typing the name "Paypal".

Paypal is so gay. It's like...they make up all these rules in their "user agreement"...and like, if you want to use their services you have to like, agree to it. But it's so gay, cuz like...if you don't do everything by their rules, they only do a best effort, and that's totally dumb. Even if I misunderstand the circumstance, and think that I'll always get all my money back, even though in their "user agreement" it says I may not get all my money back...they still will only do a best effort. Like when you like, ship something to an unconfirmed address...and even though it says not to do that, and you do it any way and the customer files a report with their credit card...then they like steal the money out of your account, and they take all your money and like go to the bar and drink and laugh about it, and scoff a lot. They're all mean and stuff. They like invented paypal so that they could like mess with innocent people because they're mean and gay.They just like to see people suffer for no reason. They like follow the customers home and video tape them through the window crying, because they're like such an evil corporation. One time I saw paypal come out of the ground and take the form of a black demon and eat a baby. They're so gay. They like to feed off the blood of the innocent.
Screw this noise, I'm going to bidpay.
