<Thermoptic>, I THOUGHT PAYPAL WAS O.K. AND I USED THEM FOR 4 YEARS. THIS YEAR I HAVE DONE CLOSE TO 1 MILLION IN SALES WITH THEM AND E-BAY. TODAY 10/26/2005 THEY FROZE MY ACCOUNT WITH $22000 IN IT. WHY? BECAUSE THEY PULLED MY PERSONAL CREDIT REPORT AND SAID IT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM, A FEW LATE HOUSE PAYMENT I GUESS. MAYBE A LATE CREDIT CARD PAYMENT. BOTTOM LINE IS THEY ARE BURYING ME HAS WE SPEAK, MY BUSINESS CAN NOT TAKE A HIT LIKE THIS. SO MY ADVICE TO YOU IS GET ANOTHER SERVICE BEFORE THEY GET YOU. BECASUE WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU IT KILLS YOU AND TEARS YOU UP INSIDE. MY REPUTATION IS ON THE LINE HERE, THANKS PAYPAL. YOU DO SUCK
Unfortunatly Bob, your story is all too common. Back in the day when I used PP my company was a tier 1 client to them. They constantly screwed with me. When they revised their Terms of Service (TOS) to include language that no lawyer would let me sign I ended my relationship with PP and got a real merchant account (no easy process.)
This TOS completely absolves PP of all liability no matter what crimes they commit against their customers. You agree to this when you agree to their TOS.

What you (and others) need to understand is that no matter what PP would like you to think they are NOT a bank. They are a private money market fund and are NOT held to the same standards that a bank is.

Good luck with your problems. My advise is twofold.
1. Hire a good lawyer to deal with the Paypal side of things.
2. Get a merchant account. I went thru Electronic Transfer Inc (after wasting months with local banks) and they hooked me up with Redwood Merchant Services. To date they have treated me with respect, answered the phone and not caused one bit of trouble.

Sundance,
very well said girl.

ANGELA is correct as well, PP calls it "piggy backing"
If you buy something for 10.00 using your PP account and
they claim you owe them 100.00 they will debt your bank account
or CC associated with your PP account $110.00.

You have to watch the transaction page and if you "decline".
They will simply not let you pay for the 10.00 item.

Get as far away from PP as you can if you
have had any problem with them at all.

HI, CANCEL your bank account and any credit card attached to your paypal account ASAP before they try to debit those funds without your permission. they are known to do this. and that could leave you with bounced checks etc.

Infectious Greed...........

It is easy to look at eBay Corporate and their Sister Company Paypal, and accuse them of Infectious Greed. It would be quite impossible, not to do so.

When Any Corporation exercises poor judgment, when they lie, when they behave badly, I believe in calling them out on it. Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis once said, "Sunshine is the best disinfectant," and that's more true than ever today. Another way of looking at many of the posts, made here at paypalsucks, is to take into consideration, that these comments are being made by concerned citizens, and those detrimentally effected by eBay and Paypal! Just as the Paypalsucks Administration, the Many Posters to this Site are busy Redirecting Sunshine, to where it's Needed Most.

Spreading Light and Warning Others, that Continued Allegiance to these Companies, holds a Clear and Present Danger, of Very Real Financial Disaster.

These smart a$$es just robbed $1000 in cash from and said they can't do anything to refund me my money, and will give the seller a warning even though they see he is at fault. WTF DOES THIS MEAN?!

dayrongarcia,

Your account will eventually be disabled after numerous email attempts by paypal to have you deposit the money in your account to bring your balance to zero. The amount may not be enough to trigger collection calls but it could happen if you choose not to pay. We had the same thing happen to us for 4 x your amount and we simply closed our paypal account. You must disable your bank account from your paypal account (it may be too late to make changes) or they will try and grab the money from your bank.

<Shinytek>,

We were using Paypal without trouble for two months. Now they have frozen our account because they THINK that we do not have the items we are selling. Hello?? we are an ADVERTISING AGENCY, we sell COPIES of original stills and autographed photos. How can we NOT have the items, ANYONE can make photos in a PHOTOLAB- which we HAVE (stated in EVERY AUCTION.) Paypal truly SUCKS!!

dayrongarcia, LOL, dont make me laugh. Paypal will not give you the choice they will take your money from your account and give it back to the con artist who bought from you without a question. You don't count. No one who pays paypal fees has a voice. Corporate America will do what it likes.

<PayPal should be PissPal>,

Your defense to a rogue entity, is very very questionable, I deeply doubt you ever used them. I used twice since their early conception , once in 1999, they stiffed me $1,400 , somoen hacked their system by spoofing my email and cleaned my bank account, I followed every conceiveable step they suggested to get a refund through their FALSE cliam of insurabilty after two years of negotiatiation, they finally threw the bomb saying its my bank responsability to file for insurance., the second time I used them on EBAY , they used some lame excuse to FREEZE my transaction sitting on $1,200 to investigate where the money came from, the buyer got frustrated he retracted the transaction. There all said judge for yourself if PayPal is really trustworthy. I am still posting on EBAY, but this time I add : I DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL. my honest suggestion to do same from all EBAY posters, it will weed away very likely undless frustration with their crappy low tech system.

The simplest solution is right in front of any user who accepts PayPal.

Simply STOP using them and get a merchant account.
You can wean yourself off the PP and sleep at night.

If this person had a bank account, the bank would have done the same thing.

If any one person accumulates 10,000 or more very rapidly, the IRS can close your account. In addition, if the account owner said it was for donating to a charity, then he would have been asked to apply for a Non Profit Orginization status. Otherwise, all the interest he would have accumulated would have been taxible no matter what he actually spent the money on.

This is one of those bank regulations which Paypal follows to try and be consistient.
