Dina,
should be interesting indeed. You know over at feebay's boards the regular cheerleaders do work for pp and feebay me thinks .
I have a list of many of them. They NEVER make any since but newbies figure out quick who they are really dealing with. They are so transparent. LOL

xppman, I totally agree with you. I think the people who do come on this site, professing thier love for paypal, are either totally clueless, or work for them. I recently filed a complaint with the attorney general over this whole matter. Funny thing is, someone from the AG in nebraska called me yesterday to discuss this matter. hmmmm..should be interesting..i will call them back later today

Believe it not people this is what feebay and paypal do. They send “contractors” in to try and make sites like this full of good information seem like it is all psycho babble. Well I can assure it is not. These are real people with REAL problems with a company that is NOT regulated like a bank yet acts on your behalf with your money.

In the real world and what is apparent is that paypal has in fact embezzled millions of $$$ from people.
It’s no wonder they were so quick to pay out 9.3 million instead of being looked at closer in the last class action.

<Livewire>, it doesn't work that way. apples and oranges..we all enter user agreements. and yes many agreements can say one thing or another
I can sit here all day and tell you what PAYPALS AGREEMENT doesn't say....and thier deceptive ways of holding peoples money to make interest...etc
read the whistleblower site....

Good Lord.

I was recommended to this site by a business associate, and this is the first thread I've read.

Dina, you and PaypalSucks Administrator have convinced me to go no further with this site. Your reaction here when you finally realize that your argument is sinking fast is to make absolutely no sense and point to another page entirely. Administrator, to personally attack someone who's making a fairly decent amount of sense rather than address his or her points is an admission of failure.

Glad I was given this site's address. At least this way, I won't waste any time on it if I happen to stumble on it again.

I heard complaints of this kind nearly every day when I was in debt collection. "I don't care what I signed!" Well you should care, because the law says you are responsible for it. Not PayPal, the law of the land. The courts. Civil, and in some cases, Criminal Courts.

This is why you should care.

Good point however the laws of the land go both ways. Unscrupulous and otherwise illegal contracts and agreements are out there. Many companies do this. Including paypal and feebay.

Funny you don’t see a bunch of consumers / people being hauled to court when they breach what they find out later is an illegal contract / agreement.

That’s right. .. That’s what collection agencies are for and why these companies sell the bad debts off to them
because their legal staffs already know that they would loose in a court of law if they decided to start trying to collect on their illegal contracts themselves. Not to mention how the judicial system my decide if applicable, to fine these companies for their unscrupulous writings and double speak contracts / agreements once they were actually brought out in a case by case basis in front of a judge.

As far as I’m concerned, if any contract or agreement states the company has the right to “change” the contract or agreement at will. They have just afforded this same provision to me.

That is why collections agencies exist and usually don’t collect at all on the more savvy consumers
and is why so many larger companies right off so much bad debt. THEY DON’T WANT TO OPEN UP THAT CAN OF WORMS. lol

Case in point with ebay and paypal. Notice on most of the lawsuits brought against them they settle?

Wonder why this is if this so called. “You agreed to it when you signed up” (contract / agreement) premise was fully enforceable in a court of law?

There is nothing wrong with what he did, i don't care what the PP bogus user agreement states.
I didn't want to address your inane rantings further, but I simply have to reply to this. If you don't read the documents you sign, you are in for some miserable times. Adults in Canada (where I am located) and in the United States are able to enter into agreements called "contracts" in which consideration (money, things of value, services, etc.) are exchanged. Those same adults can also refuse to enter into such agreements if they are not happy with the terms.

I heard complaints of this kind nearly every day when I was in debt collection. "I don't care what I signed!" Well you should care, because the law says you are responsible for it. Not PayPal, the law of the land. The courts. Civil, and in some cases, Criminal Courts.

<Livewire>, I listened to what you were saying, but sadly, I listen and can't help but to think "Another sorry person who defends paypal to the bitter end, until they realize how corrupt they are, and then will later come back here disguised as another whistleblower" You will realize that soon enough.

Even with this recent fiasco, it's still not enough for any real action (i.e. federal investigation) to be taken against PayPal.

We need something big. Really big. Enron/Worldcom big.

So crucify the man! Good grief, you are dense. So what!? So what the guy wants to have some credit for raising the money? That in no way tarnishes the effort. Are you so vindictive that you have to attack everyone?
Not at all. I'm simply pointing out that his entire purpose in choosing PayPal was to receive credit for his achievement. When choosing PayPal, he should have exercised due diligence in researching any costs and hurdles associated with this project.

BFD. File the SAR and let the gov. look into it. It's none of PayPal's business.

You can't possibly believe that. Going back to my bank analogy, if a bank were to open an account for you, and you didn't tell them it would be for collecting charity donations, would you say it's none of the bank's business if they decide to do some investigating when you try to withdraw the money?

I'll try not to take your mictural metaphor personally and assume it was a typo. I've worked in several financial industries, including debt collection. I can tell you that the financial industry is one place where you cannot simply trust everyone by his word, because the very small percentage of people out there who abuse the system will take you for every dime you've got. It's not that you can't trust anyone; your self-image statement is bang-on. However precautions must be taken to protect yourself and your customers when you run a financial institution of this kind.

I imagine you probably believe that people are mostly decent, law abiding, well-behaved, and trustworthy. With that in mind, do you have locks on your doors?

...NO matter what you say, paypal is at total fault here.
...
Point is..paypal are liars, and cheats.

Then I'll stop addressing your comments. If you're not willing to listen to reason, if all you want to do is stick your fingers in your ears and shout "LALALALALAPAYPALSUCKS!" then what use is it to discuss the issue with you?

Put your fingers back in your ears. Protect yourself from the truth pains.

He could have simply linked to Red Cross directly and asked members to direct their donations there. But out of pride, he wanted to have bragging rights to the amount of money his forum raised.

Understand from the point of view of the financial institution. An Internet site they have never heard of, run by a fellow calling himself Lowtax, suddenly acquires a large amount of money in an account. Financial institutions are usually required by law to report suspicious activity in an account.
