That's awesome. I'm so glad somebody was able to capture that before they fixed it. Hopefully, one day in the (very) near future, somebody will be able to use that in an investigation and/or case against PayPal.

Also look at what their answer says, "WE do not feel.." Ask the seller who is ripped off how he or she feels about it, not PayPal! At least one person at PayPal is honest! Thank you, to whoever you are at PayPal. And I mean that sincerely. It's nice to know at least one person at PayPal is concerned with telling the truth. Thank you again!

And check out this quote they gave the Press at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/06/20/paypal_slip/
\"We do not feel that PayPal users\' ability to comply with the terms and conditions are at all limited.\" HUH? Who said anything about the USER?

PayPal made a major screw up during the recent updates to it's site. For some reason on the UK site they didn't edit out their comments on the proposed changes. The original url was https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/protections-outside however, the day after we posted this on our site, PayPal fixed it. But here is what it looked like: (be patient, it takes a few moments for the graphic to load...)

Look where it says:
Quote:
Should any suspicious activity occur, PayPal will either alert you either by email or by a representative calling you. But PayPal doesn’t stop there. We offer you [excellent] [ too strong I think given the limited ability to comply with SPP] chargeback protection, too.
Obviously, PayPal knows they can't offer "excellent" chargeback protection, even putting it in bold, and now finally admits it!
They say, "given the limited ability to comply with SPP" (SPP is PayPal's "Seller Protection Policy.") They are admitting right there, that sellers have "limited ability" to comply with the "protection policy" to stop chargebacks! Just like we've said all along! Now we get it right from PayPal! If this doesn't wake people up to just what kind of company PayPal is, I don't know what will. In fact, I'm going to say, NO ONE could possibly qualify for the SPP. See

Just for posterity.... it's saved here also: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/r.smith5237/paypal%20oops.jpg
On the US page, they left in "excellent."

I guess they didn't get that memo. :-D
Special thanks goes to one very astute PayPalSucks reader! (T-shirt on it's way!)
